Finding what will work for you, where you are, at this moment.

Whether it is quality, productivity or customer related, you and your organisation are unique and have already found much that works for you. When the solution to a particular challenge is evading you, coaching helps you work out your way forward. Coaching helps World-class atheletes reach peak performance and overcome challenges and it can work for you.

Somebody else’s cookie cutter solution may or possibly may not work for you. It is better, quicker and cheaper to build the solution to your particular challenge based on what works for you. This is where one-to-one my A3 Management Coaching can help you. Often solutions can be developed in six to eight coaching sessions, sometimes less. After which you will have a “story” that will enable you to share whole situation and your journey with someone, like your boss, in 5 minutes!

Brevity it the Key to A3!

The A3 Storyboard is takes its name from the size of the sheet of paper on which you can work through your problem, issue or challenge. The limitation of the single page encourages the use of both bullet-pointed statements and graphical methods.

A3 is a People Process

Fundamentally the process is based on using its visual format to interact with as many people as possible who are involved with the situation you are working on. Engaging with as many of those involved during the process means that there is a greater change of them supporting whatever solution is arrived at.

My A3 coaching is very practical and in saying that it also only deals with solvable problems. Solvable problems can be defined, have outcomes that can be measured and everyone involved accepts that they will be doing something differently in future, whether that improvement is a small or large.

Here’s the A3 Storyboard process that guides you through dealing with your situation:

A3 Management Coaching guides you through each stage of the process

The essence is therefore quite simple, although it benefits from some subtlety in use. It boils down to:

1. Choosing a concise title

2. Defining the problem and linking it to business needs

3. Analysing and visually presenting the current situation

4. Stating the ideal future state

5. Analysing the root causes of the situation - activity that is too often missed

6. Propose countermeasures or solutions and select one based on risk analysis

7. Develop an implementation plan

8. Specify how results or outcomes will be evaluated
